I am a scholar of media and cultural anthropology and specialize in ethnographic methods. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Humboldt University zu Berlin. I have a PhD in South Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore, a M.A. in Women’s Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and a B.A. (Honors) in Sociology from Lady Shri Ram College.
My academic research lies at the intersection of disability studies, gender studies, affect studies, production culture studies and critical new media industries studies. So far, some of it has appeared in peer-reviewed journals like Media, Culture and Society, Communication, Culture and Critique, South Asian Diaspora and Journal of Indian and Asian Studies. I have also contributed to public writing forums like Asian Film Archive, Economic and Political Weekly, Café Dissensus, and FemAsia. Apart from pursuing my role as a Teaching Assistant in South Asian Studies and Instructor of Public Communications at the National University of Singapore, I have given guest lectures at Nanyang Technological University, University of Augsburg, Ateneo De Manila University, Bielefeld University, and Humboldt University.
I strongly believe in disseminating academic scholarship to a wider public. In doing so, I have been a research associate and guest lecturer for the Centre for Disability and Training Certificate Programme at the University of Delhi and a regular host on the New Books Network podcast.
